1907

It's oh so posh and oh so elegant, from the heavy curtains, to the impeccable service; from to the mirror lined chariot de fromage to the impressive tiling in the bathrooms. Prices are on the high end, even for Perth, but there is no faulting the quality and precision that goes into the dishes. Definitely a special occasion restaurant.

Address: 26 Queen St, Perth

Cuisine:
 Modern

Price range: $$$$

Must try: the 1907 Chocolate Plate

No. 4 Blake Street

I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and was dazzled each time. Service is cheeky during the day and polished at night. The food is beautiful at all times of day. Most evenings are various forms of degustation. Thoroughly recommended.

Address: 4 Blake Street, North Perth

Cuisine:
 Modern

Price range: $$$$ (dinner)

Must try: all of it

Pata Negra

The very famous squid ink paella is not the prettiest dish you will ever see, but many say it should be on your
foodie bucket list.

Inside it feels like you are visiting your (slightly drunk) Aunty who still lives in the 1970s while outside there is a fabulous garden with lights strewn in the trees. But you are there for the food, which is amazing and the best way to experience it, is to let the chef decide for you. Bring your loose waisted pants and a sense of adventure.

Address: 26 Stirling Hwy, Nedlands

Cuisine:
 Tapas

Price range: $$$

Must try: silverbeet, kale and caramelised onion

Amuse

If you are an unadventurous eater, if you lack stamina or the ability to try new things that might look a little strange, if you are economically disadvantaged, claustrophobic or are a control freak, then eating at Amuse is not for you. However if you want to be challenged (in a dark dark space) then get your credit card ready and prepare to be amazed.

Address: 64 Bronte Street, East Perth

Cuisine:
 Fine dining

Price range: $$$$

Must try: pumpkin and curry leaf

Nobu

The Nobu fish and chips is like no fish and chips you have ever eaten

The Nobu degustation menu is well and truly special occasion territory, and it is worth the hefty price tag, but it is possible to dine here without a reservation (sit at the bar) and without the second mortgage.

Address: Crown Casino, Burswood

Cuisine:
 Japanese, Fine Dining

Price range: $$$$

Must try: Nobu fish and chips

Address: 49/15 Labouchere Rd, South Perth

Cuisine:
 Modern Australian, Fine Dining

Price range: $$$$

Must try: deep fried broccoli

Petite Mort

It may be hidden in the 'burbs, but this is a special restaurant with special price tags and some impressive awards on the very strangely decorated walls. You can get fixed price lunch and dinner some days of the week, but if you've the money, go the whole hog and have one of the degustation menus. Just don't expect matching wine (yet).

Address: 225 Onslow Rd, Shenton Park

Cuisine:
 Modern Australian, fine dining

Price range: $$$$

Must try: the pork belly
